Senator Victor Gregory with Marcus Glenn at Park West GallerySince being named the official artist for the 2014 Grammy awards, Marcus Glenn has been feeling the love locally as city, county and state leaders have offered him certified kudos in the form of proclamations, presentations, certificates, tributes and formal letters.

Senator Victor Gregory came by Park West Gallery yesterday to present this tribute from the State of Michigan.

The artist was featured in the Oakland Press one day and the next day stood in the Oakland County Commissioner’s Auditorium and accepted an award for his contribution to the culture and richness of the community.

Marcus is the first to say it’s been fun. “It’s nice receiving recognition from my community,” he says.

Even for an artist whose work is collected worldwide, accolades from his neighbors have a very personal appeal.  Marcus graciously thanked God, the community, Park West Gallery and, of course, his wife, Yolanda.

He told Oakland Press reporter Nichole Robertson that he also always appreciates the love his collectors show. “When you work with a big gallery and your works are in demand, you have to maintain the quality,” he said. “Working with clients who appreciate your work, you want to make sure that you give them the best.”
