Park West Gallery Wishes Mickey Mouse a Happy 81st Birthday!

In Animation Art, Artists & Special Collections, David Willardson, Video

A most iconic figure in the world of animation turns eighty-one-years-old today. Park West Gallery would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to one of our favorite Walt Disney characters – Mickey Mouse!

It was on November 18, 1928 that Steamboat Willie, the first Mickey Mouse cartoon with synchronized sound, was released. Beloved by those of all ages since his debut, Mickey Mouse has inspired artists of all genres to capture his image in their artwork. “Pep Artist” David Willardson began studying Disney imagery at an early age and pop culture icons like Mickey have been his muses ever since.

To celebrate Mickey Mouse’s birthday, please enjoy Park West Gallery’s exclusive video of David Willardson in his studio, discussing his artwork, Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters. You can find more exclusive videos of Willardson and other Park West Gallery artists at the Park West Gallery YouTube channel.
