Echoes of America: Yasmin Asad and Joe Everson in Contrast | Opening August 7 at Park West SoHo
On August 7, 2025, Park West Gallery SoHo (411 West Broadway) will unveil Echoes of America: Yasmin Asad and Joe Everson in Contrast, a compelling exhibition that explores two dramatically different yet equally vibrant perspectives on the American experience.
Though they come from opposite backgrounds, both Asad and Everson channel powerful narratives of hope, identity, and reinvention through their art. Yasmin Asad, raised in post-Soviet Azerbaijan, blends the stark greys of her native Baku with the glitz and energy of American pop culture. Her striking canvases juxtapose symbols of freedom—VW vans, movie icons, and playful Americana slogans—with haunting undercurrents of personal history, resulting in a vision that is both nostalgic and defiantly optimistic.
Joe Everson, known as “America’s singing painter,” brings a different kind of energy. A former fuel truck driver turned viral sensation, Everson captures patriotic fervor by painting live while performing the National Anthem at major sporting events. His work evokes the spirit of the country’s heartland and heritage, with bold depictions of American landscapes, military tributes, and urban skylines—all driven by a deep belief in unity and resilience.
This exhibition brings together two contemporary voices who, despite their contrasts, echo the many dimensions of the American dream. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience their stories in color, sound, and emotion—right in the heart of SoHo.
