Michael Kachan was born in the countryside of Armenia. There, he completed secondary school and was a noteworthy student specializing in art. He works mostly in acrylic on canvas, building up the surface with deep sculpted textures and overlays of pigments. He interprets his paintings into original serigraphs and hand-embellished serigraphs on canvas with a similar textural effect and achieves a luminosity of color through a combination of varnished inks and glazes.
