Entrepreneur and marketing icon energizes room full of record-breaking art auctioneers with signature motivational style and candid Q&A.
Park West Gallery gathered their top-performing auctioneers at their new SoHo gallery to celebrate this year’s Golden Gavel Awards, honoring the 35 elite professionals who lead art auctions aboard six major cruise lines. The event’s centerpiece: a surprise high-energy keynote address from entrepreneur, author, and VeeFriends creator Gary Vaynerchuk (GaryVee), followed by a Q&A session moderated by Park West COO John Block.
The room buzzed with anticipation as Vaynerchuk took the stage, delivering his trademark blend of hustle, authenticity, and business wisdom tailored specifically for the art world’s frontline sellers.
GaryVee views collecting as an emerging mainstream cultural genre that will dominate everyday social and business interactions. And, although his deep investment in collecting is built on a foundation of trading cards and NFTs (including his own branded VeeFriends), collecting art certainly fits into his philosophy of collecting. He emphasizes that true collectability relies on the narrative, character depth, and emotional connection with the item. Talk to any auctioneer and they’ll tell you that’s true, it’s as much about the story behind the art and artist and the collector’s emotional connection as it is the artistic aesthetic of the art.
