Romero Britto’s Joyful Art Arrives in Las Vegas
Bold splashes of color, whimsical flowers, and playful cartoon dogs, these are the hallmarks of Romero Britto, the Brazilian-born multimedia artist and founder of the Happy Art Movement.
A painter, sculptor, and printmaker, Britto has dedicated his career to one simple but powerful goal: spreading joy, optimism, and happiness through art. His signature style, featuring radiant hues, heavy black contours, and lighthearted imagery, has carried that message to audiences around the globe.
Now that celebration of color has a new home. The traveling exhibition, Life in Vivid Color: Artwork by Romero Britto, has come to Park West’s Las Vegas Gallery and can be seen now through October 8, 2026. Following its debut at our SoHo Gallery in New York earlier this year, this exhibition brings Britto’s exuberant vision westward, offering art lovers a fresh chance to experience his work in person.
From Humble Beginnings to a Global Movement
One of eight children raised in poverty, Britto turned to whatever materials he could find, newspaper, cardboard, and anything else at hand, and began developing the distinctive imagery that would carry him through hard times. Over the years, his vision expanded to blend cubism, graffiti, and pop art, often featuring fanciful animals, vibrant flowers, and romantic couples. Inspired by the likes of Picasso, Matisse, and Warhol, he forged a style entirely his own — now referred to as the Happy Art Movement.
After moving to Miami in 1988, Britto’s reputation soared when his artwork appeared in campaigns for major global brands, including Absolut Vodka, Disney, BMW, and Pepsi. His creativity has proven boundless, spanning everything from the blue feline of Mona Cat to Barbie dolls to a Miami-themed Monopoly game.
A Collector’s Favorite and a Public Art Icon
Long celebrated by collectors worldwide, Britto is equally celebrated for his large-scale public sculptures. His vibrant Best Buddies Friendship Bear was installed in Berlin as a gift from Eunice Kennedy Shriver to the city.
Britto’s public artworks can also be found in New York, including The Big Apple at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
For Super Bowl XLI in 2007, Britto collaborated with Cirque du Soleil on the event’s Opening Kickoff performance.
He went on to serve as the official artist for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and ambassador for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
