Though their journeys couldn’t be more different, both artists transform nature into something deeply personal. Rather than striving for literal realism, each reimagines animals, flowers, and landscapes through emotion, symbolism, and imagination. Levi’s luminous paintings invite quiet reflection through bold color and expressive brushwork, while Lopez’s playful bronze sculptures spark curiosity with intricate details, rich patinas, and unexpected storytelling.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1955, Nano Lopez was raised in a family that encouraged both artistic exploration and technical curiosity. His father, a chemical engineer, inspired an early fascination with materials and experimentation. After working in marble, granite, and steel, Lopez moved to the United States and studied with the sculpture department at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, where he discovered the medium that would define his career: bronze enhanced with richly layered patinas.
Today, Lopez is celebrated worldwide for his beloved “Nanimals” – imaginative sculptures that blend wildlife with distinctly human characteristics. Whether portraying an inquisitive dog as Sherlock (2010), complete with a deerstalker hat and curved pipe, or creating other fantastical animal personalities, Lopez fills each work with extraordinary craftsmanship, vibrant color, and hidden details that reward closer inspection. His sculptures invite viewers to create their own stories, finding humor, wisdom, and humanity within every piece.
Albert Levi’s artistic journey began very differently. Born near Haifa, Israel, in 2001 into a family of artists, Levi struggled within the structure of formal education. Following his service in an elite commando unit of the Israel Defense Forces, he discovered painting as both a creative outlet and a source of healing and peace.
Levi initially shared his paintings on Facebook, where collectors—particularly within the Jewish community—quickly embraced his work. He became known for incorporating the blue and white of the Israeli flag into powerful works such as his Lion of Judah series. Today, his radiant depictions of flowers, birds, lions, and other wildlife are collected around the world, celebrated for their fearless use of color, expressive texture, and unmistakable energy.
Together, Levi and Lopez demonstrate how art can transcend geography, culture, and medium. One works in vibrant pigment, the other in sculpted bronze. One captures emotion through sweeping brushstrokes, the other through finely crafted form. Yet both celebrate the wonder of the wild and the enduring connection between humanity and nature.
