Joe Everson

1989–
Joe Everson is known around the country as America’s singing painter. He has performed from coast to coast, in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators, and has used his patriotic art to raise millions for charities close to his heart.
As a child growing up in Michigan, Everson would hear both his parents performing live music, singing and playing saxophone, and watch his grandparents create visual art. Soon, the arts would come to be how Joe Everson learned to express himself. While his ability to verbally express feelings lagged compared to his peers, his drawings inspired by pop art and comics, and later, his visceral paintings, were telling a much fuller story of what was going on inside his mind.
READ MORE +Everson has been a fuel truck driver, working from 4am to 1pm every day, a singer in a quartet at night, and slinging his artistic wares on the side. He is a self-taught artist who got married and started a family, and was holding down a job to support his loved ones, but something inside this rebellious spirit was saying, “There is more to life than this.” At this time, Everson was remembering his dream of being an artist, so he created a studio in a laundry room, got to work painting and singing, and soon, those two passions and skills would be married in a way not previously thought imaginable!
As a contrarian ‘rebel’ who also wants to find common ground to please as many collectors as possible, Everson contains multitudes. His early art, and his life in general, has been shaped by advice received from Ms. Garrison, his elementary school art teacher who relayed Picasso’s words that an artist must first learn the rules before he begins to shatter them. That’s exactly what Everson did when he launched his art career and exactly what he’s doing every time he paints Lady Liberty in 90 seconds while at the same time singing the National Anthem in front of tens of thousands before NBA and NHL games! He’s now a brand unto himself and a force of nature, creating action paintings that appear to soar off the canvas and making patriotic art that pays homage to the country he loves and the brave men and women who help to protect our freedoms at home every day.
Everson’s art first began to flourish with his Faces of the Past series. Inspired by a childhood spent watching black and white movies with legendary names like Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, and Marilyn Monroe, the contemporary artist used these evocative portraits—from Monroe herself to the fictional candy maker Willy Wonka—as a way to be ‘loud’ and get people’s attention at art shows.
Today, Everson paints like a man on a mission to connect with people and to do good. He regularly works on multiple art pieces simultaneously, and uses watercolors, ink, and wild brushes to make magic happen on canvas. Collectors around the world are taking notice.
