Where Past & Present Meet – Artist in Residence Ericka Muecke

In Art & Gallery News, Las Vegas Museum

There is power in creating without the limitations of a single art style, and Erika Muecke has harnessed that ability within her work. Art lovers in the Las Vegas area have the exciting opportunity to see her create spectacular paintings that transcend generations before your eyes at Park West Las Vegas from 11 am to 4 pm, April 16-19 and April 23-26.

The creator of incredibly realistic classical figures set atop vibrant street-style backdrops, Muecke is passionate about crafting art that intersects ancestral roots with contemporary styles. Her body of work serves as more than a visual ornament – each painting is the convergence of the past and the present on one harmonious canvas.

“Our emotions, moods, and desires echo those of generations before us,” said Muecke. “Through my work, I aim to explore this timeless connection by merging two seemingly opposing yet equally vital forms of expression: Classical Realism and Street Art.”

Muecke brings these enduring visions to life through mixed mediums – from creating her own stencils to layering collage materials and finally painting in acrylics.

In addition to Muecke’s April residency with Park West Gallery, she has maintained an impressive drumbeat of art shows, exhibitions and philanthropic events throughout the country since diving into life as a full-time artist in 2020.

Take advantage of the chance to meet the artist, discuss her work, and see her paint live at Park West Las Vegas, located inside the Forum Shops on Level Two across from the spiral escalator.
