In the United States, the Fourth of July stirs up patriotism in everyone. Regardless of your background or beliefs, Independence Day is a time for the country to come together and celebrate our trials and triumphs.
On the Fourth of July, we commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in 1776. The document, penned by Thomas Jefferson, announced the colony’s separation from Great Britain, stating “these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states.”
In other words, we’re celebrating the birth of the United States, and birthdays deserve to be celebrated.
July 4th certainly inspires artists. Whether it’s depicting Main Street U.S.A. or painting the colors of the U.S. flag, many artists have been known to let their patriotism explode onto the canvas like a firework.
In viewing these patriotic works of art, we’re reminded of the values that helped establish the foundations of our country: diversity, freedom, and liberty.
