Park West Gallery talks art auctions on Fox 5 Good Day New York
Park West Gallery dished on art and art auctions with Fox 5 Good Day New York on November 16, reinforcing its message that art is for everyone.
The art world has seen many large purchases this year at auction houses like Christieโs and Sothebyโs. These include the two record-setting purchases of a Pablo Picasso for $179.4 million and the acquisition of a Modigliani for $170.4 million. In particular, new records were set for works by artists like Lichtenstein, Warhol and Pollock, contributing to more than $2 billion in art sales.
In addition to an expert from Soho Contemporary Art, anchors Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly spoke with Auctioneer Rob Ducat about the excitement of an auction. Park West Gallery holds art auctions all over the world aboard cruise ships and across the U.S. in luxury hotels, so Ducat gave the hosts a taste of that fun atmosphere with a mock auction.
โWhat we do is we create a happy experience for people that maybe arenโt used to buying artwork,โ Ducat said.
Park West Vice President of Sales Stoney Goldstein was on set for the shoot. He agreed there have been some extravagant purchases in the art market at large auction houses, but when it comes to making art accessible for everyone, he was glad Fox 5 knew they could turn to Park West Gallery.
โPark West Galleryโs auctions are entertaining and fun, and our goal is to make fine art available to everyone, while also creating a memorable collecting experience,โ Goldstein says. โWe love for people to be engaged, enriched, and to enjoy themselves at our auctions.โ
Goldstein says he and Ducat had a great time being on set and working with the Good Day New York anchors and crew. They also had a nice bonus of meeting Fran Drescher, who was there for a different segment the same day.
โWe were very happy to have been invited onto the show,โ Goldstein says. โEveryone at Fox 5 was very friendly, and the experience of being there was incredible.โ
