Park West Gallery unveils “Pino: An American Master”
Find out why Pino Daeni is one of the last great illustrators of our time with a new exhibition at Park West Gallery.
Admission to the gallery and exhibition is free to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.
Explore 77 works of art by Pino, the artist who dominated the book cover market with his illustrations and gained further success as a fine artist. The works include paintings, drawings, watercolors and hand-embellished graphic works.
Pino passed away at the age of 70 in 2010. As the representative of Pino’s estate, the artwork will be available to collect at special estate sale prices.
“Park West is truly privileged to be a part of Pino’s legacy as the exclusive dealer for the estate of this American master,” David Gorman, gallery director of Park West Gallery.
Pino (born Giuseppe Dangelico) grew up in a post-war Bari, Italy, surrounded by women, including his mother, sisters, aunts and grandparents. Because of this, Pino grew to cherish women on physical and spiritual levels, and this shines forth in his paintings.
Pino studied at the Art Institute in Bari and perfected his talent for painting figures at Milan’s Academy of Brera. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1978 with his family, Pino was hired by multiple book publishers to create covers, painting around 3,000 in his lifetime.
He shifted his focus to fine art in 1992, and his paintings became highly sought-after works that appeared in galleries throughout the United States. His art focuses on the female form, using his mastery of technique, body language and color to convey deep emotions from his subjects.
Pino would readily tell people he has no agenda other than to create art. He didn’t seek to inject political ideas or social commentary into his artwork. Instead, he only painted what appealed to him.
What appealed to Pino was a focus on interior situations — moments where the spirit is quiet and still when compared to the activity and noise of everyday life. By doing so, his works tell us that life is complex and beautiful, and reminds us that life is a continuous journey.
This will be the exhibition’s only venue, so take advantage of the opportunity to discover and collect this master artist and illustrator. For more information, call 248-354-2343 or visit www.parkwestgallery.com.
