If you find yourself in Pennsylvania sometime before August 1st, you may want to head over to the Susquehanna Art Museum in Harrisburg, PA. The art museum is currently showcasing a Salvador Dali exhibit featuring Dali’s creations for two literary masterpieces, Dante’s Divine Comedy and Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

Divine Comedy - Purgatory 12. The Beauty of The Sculpture. Salvador Dali. The woodblocks of Divine Comedy imagery and the heliogravures of Alice in Wonderland imagery provide the viewer with Surrealist interpretations of the classics; while the artworks contain dreamlike references to the unconscious, they also provide interesting links back to the texts.

The exhibitions manager at Susquehanna Art Museum, Amy Hammond believes these works “scream of Dali.” They also show Dali’s seriousness of purpose and provide evidence of his lifelong interest in literature.
