Park West Gallery’s youngest artist, Autumn de Forest, is preparing for a special live appearance in Boston, unveiling a painting to honor Boston Marathon bombing victims.

The 13-year-old prodigy will exhibit her work at the Ritz-Carlton on the Boston Common on February 27, giving art lovers and enthusiasts alike a chance to meet her and collect some of her expressive and fun artwork.

The event, hosted by Park West Gallery, will begin at 10 a.m. with a presentation by Autumn, followed by a preview of the work at 11 a.m. and a live auction at 11:45 a.m. Click here for more details.

The Las Vegas teen recently spoke with Boston Magazine about her upcoming appearance. In it, she talks about how all but one painting will be available for auction. This special painting is a brand-new work she created to honor victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

“Once I heard about the Boston bombing, I was devastated, and I wanted to do a piece dedicated to that terrible event.”

Sketches for the artwork show a pair of sneakers surrounded by a ring of stars. Autumn will use a technique she invented called “pull painting” to create the work.

“I take thicker paint right out of the tube and put it on the painting, and then I take a long wire and pull it across. I’m going to do that in the colors of the Boston flag,” she explains.

The painting is under consideration by the mayor’s office for Autumn to present to Mayor Marty Walsh during her visit. She said she is also looking forward to visiting Boston’s many museums for inspiration for her next projects.

Park West founder and CEO Albert Scaglione has mentored Autumn during her art career.

“Forget about her age, forget about anything else, she’s a very accomplished colorist, a very accomplished technician, she’s extraordinarily creative,” he said. “She already has iconic graphic images.”

Born in 2001, Autumn has painted for most of her life. She has appeared on the Discovery Channel, “The Today Show,” “Inside Edition,” major TV networks and national media tours. She has also lectured and worked with corporations, universities, charities and other organizations.

She descends from an artistic family heritage that includes American painters Roy de Forest (1930–2007); Lockwood de Forest (1850–1932), luminist and California plein-air painter; and George de Forest Brush (1855–1941).

Autumn also spoke with The Improper Bostonian about her upcoming trip to Boston
