A crew from the new Detroit Public Television program Detroit Performs paid a visit to Park West Gallery artist Dominic Pangborn’s studio Monday. Dominic will be a featured segment on the show, which airs at 7:30 p.m., October 28 in the Detroit Public Television market (Channel 56). It will also be available online. Detroit Performs showcases local people who perform, create and inspire. Each episode is a compilation of stories and conversations about making art in greater Detroit.

Along with Dominic was a young Chinese-American art student visiting from Texas, Jein Shae White. Dominic has been mentoring Jein via the internet. During the filming, it was the first time the pair actually painted together. Dominic embraces opportunities to give back to the community, whether it be through philanthropic organizations or by mentoring. Jein, like Dominic, was born in an Asian country and came to the United States via adoption.
