Tour Park West
Marc Scaglione
President, Park West
Marc Scaglione began his career at Park West® at age 14, spending his summers at his father's business, working his way up from the ground floor. Since then, he has worked in nearly all of the gallery's departments, including the in-house framing and publishing facilities, the mail room, inventory room, graphics department and the gallery warehouse, giving him a unique, first-person perspective on the inner workings of Park West®.
After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1993, Scaglione began working at Park West® full-time, serving as the company's merchandise manager. In this position, Scaglione took a simple DOS program and developed an array of programs that the gallery still currently uses to organize and support its merchandising and inventory departments. Scaglione also played an integral role in the company's expansion in 1995 to include art auctions aboard cruise ships – what began with four ships in 1995 has since grown to over 70 in 2007.
As president of Park West®, Scaglione continues to work closely with the company's cruise ship art auction operations, as well as the merchandising, inventory, shipping, receiving and client services departments, and the gallery's land auctions, held throughout the United States and Canada. Scaglione also works closely with the artists whose work Park West® features, hosting and managing many of the gallery's special events, and working with buyers to find new artists, artwork and acquisitions.
Scaglione enjoys working side-by-side with his father, acting as his close advisor and confidant in addition to his duties as President. Scaglione believes in leading by example, and creates a work environment for his staff that is both friendly and professional. The members of Scaglione's team are all self-motivated and driven, as dedicated to the success of the company as Scaglione. Several members of Scaglione's staff have been a part of his team for over 10 years.
Scaglione particularly enjoys the interaction with artists and clients his position affords him. He describes the artists the gallery works with as incredibly unique, not only in their artistic genres and styles, but also in their life philosophies and experiences. He also relishes the opportunity to bring these artists face-to-face with the clients who admire their work – he finds the expressions of joy on the faces of clients upon meeting the man or woman who created the art they love thoroughly rewarding.
Scaglione, a Michigan native, currently resides in Birmingham, Mich.
