Figuratively Speaking

Since it began in 1969, Park West Gallery® has expanded in many ways. It conducts art auctions across the U.S. and Canada as well as on cruise ships. It has an affliate location in Miami. But the best way to experience Park West® is still by visiting its original location on a 3.5-acre site outside Detroit. There, its 63,000-square-foot Greco-Roman building offers 23 exhibit spaces, each devoted to a particular artist or type of art. The gallery is constantly showcasing new works as well as classics by masters like Rembrandt, Picasso and Chagall.

From June 6-22, Park West® will present "Tarkay: Recent Works," a collection of more than 40 paintings, watercolors, mixed media and limited-edition serigraphs by figurative artist Itzchak Tarkay.

"We are Tarkay's exclusive dealer," says Park West Gallery® Director Morris Shapiro. "Before [his work is] released to the international world, it's shown first in the Detroit Metropolitan Area." Shapiro calls Tarkay's work "extremely influential" and notes that he focuses on beauty in a time when art has become "more confrontational."

Located at 29469 Northwestern Highway, Southfield. Call 248-354-2343 or visit parkwestgallery.com.
