Born in San Juan, Argentina, in 1923, Segundo Huertas Aguiar moved to Chicago in 1965 when he received a portrait commission from members of the Ukrainian community there. He has traveled extensively throughout the Midwest, the Rockies and other regions of the country to gain inspiration for his paintings and lithographs.

Aguiar’s reputation as an artist continues to grow. In the past nine years, he has been featured in one-man and group exhibitions in over 27 galleries in 18 states as well as in museums in Uruguay and Brazil. Exhibits of his work are held annually in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
