Puccini’s famous opera La Bohême opens in an artist’s studio. Tonight during a broadcast production of the dramatic work staged by the Bordeaux National Opera, the opening closeup of an artist painting a boat on a red sea will be the artwork of Victor Spahn. The performance will be broadcast live in 63 cinemas throughout France, and then again to 70 in Switzerland.

The production company visited the Park West artist’s Parisian studio to film him painting the boat for use during the live-streaming production. The director also interviewed Victor. “This film will be shown at the beginning of the opera and at each scene change there will be myself painting,” said Victor.

Victor, who is known for his ability to capture the essence of movement in his work, said it’s a very good opportunity for him.

Join us in congratulating Victor on this great honor.

The program begins tonight at 7:45 p.m. local time in Paris.
